About GTCYS

The Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies provides a unique musical experience for young people, aiding in their development both as young artists and as young adults. In doing so, GTCYS offers interested students the opportunity to further their music and performance skills in an orchestral setting.

The organization serves as an advocate for music education, working closely with school and private music instructors to support and facilitate their work and to maximize their student’s musical experiences. GTCYS’ commissioning and premiering of new music from a range of composers – from young, emerging artists to nationally recognized composers – highlights the rich cultural life of our state, brings new music to Minnesota audiences, and provides extraordinary learning opportunities for young people. In addition, the organization’s growing number of outreach initiatives in schools and other settings reflects the changing nature of our diverse community, and will encourage more young people to participate in GTCYS programs in the future.
