Conductor
Klemme, Benjamin.COBENJAMIN KLEMME, CONCERT ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR
Benjamin Klemme has an active career as conductor and educator, combining his work as GTCYS’ Concert Orchestra Conductor and Assistant Conductor of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra. His position in the Quad Cities includes leadership of the Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles. Previously, he has held conducting posts at the National Repertory and Cleveland Pops Orchestras, University of Minnesota, Sante Fe Youth Symphony Association, and MacPhail Center for Music. His passion for and commitment to music education is displayed through his work both on and off the podium. In New Mexico, he helped bring classical music to life for elementary and middle school students as Artistic Adviser and Outreach Concert Host for the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival’s “Music In Our Schools” program, and chaired the music department at New Mexico School for the Arts. In Ohio, he co-founded the Scordatura Chamber Orchestra, a Cleveland-based ensemble designed to support learning objectives in language arts, math, science, and social studies through interactive orchestral performances. Dr. Klemme holds degrees from University of Minnesota, Cleveland Institute of Music, and University of Northern Iowa.

2014 – 15 Retreats
Fall: Saturday, September 20, 2014, 9:45am – 5:15pm, Camp St. Croix, Hudson, WI (Note: if taking the bus to Camp St. Croix, students must be dropped of at Mayflower Church, Mpls at 8:30am and picked up at 6:00pm)
Winter: Saturday, January 31, 2015, 12:30pm-5:30pm, Hopkins High School
Retreat Information

Description & Requirements
• Review audition requirements
• Typical grades: 6 – 12
• Advanced repertoire includes original classical works
• New members should have good sight-reading skills and be proficient in advanced key signatures
• String players have experience with higher positions, vibrato and various articulations
• Wind and percussion players have developing technique and tone
• Percussionists tune timpani from a given pitch

2014 – 15 Tuition & Fees
$675 tuition*
$100 retreat fee
*Tuition for students joining in January is 60% of full year costs, plus $50 retreat fee

The church is conveniently located on the east side of Lyndale Ave. in Minneapolis just north of Bachmans.

I-35W Southbound: Take I-35W south. Take the Minnesota 62 West exit. Exit on Lyndale Avenue. Turn right (north) onto Lyndale Avenue. Church will be in the fourth block on the right.

I-35W northbound: Take I-35W north. Take exit 11 for Minnesota 62 West. Slight right onto MN-121. Take the first right onto West 58th Street. Take the first right (south) onto Lyndale Avenue South. Church will be on your left.

Parking: Free parking is available in the church lot (accessible from Lyndale Avenue South).
