GARY WOLFMAN, CONCERT ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR
Gary Wolfman, new Conductor of Concert Orchestra, is a recent transplant to the Twin Cities, where his wife teaches music education at the University of Minnesota. Before arriving in the Twin Cities, Mr. Wolfman was the Music Director for the youth symphony program of the Fox Valley Symphony located in Appleton, WI. For many years, Wolfman taught hundreds of students in the orchestra programs at Appleton North and West High Schools. He has been President of Wisconsin Music Educators Association and North Central Division President of Music Educators National Conference. He graduated with a music education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a graduate degree in orchestral conducting and music education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His outstanding musicianship, teaching skills and high standards will benefit GTCYS students and the organization as a whole, and he looks forward to contributing to GTCYS’ success.

2013 – 14 Retreats
Fall: Saturday, September 21, 2013, 9:45am – 5:15pm, Camp St. Croix, Hudson, WI (Note: if taking the bus to Camp St. Croix, students must be dropped of at Mayflower Church, Mpls at 8:30am and picked up at 6:00pm)
Winter: Saturday, January 25, 2014, 9am-2pm, Hopkins High School

Description & Requirements
• Typical grades: 6 – 11
• Students develop their technical and ensemble skills through a variety of repertoire
• New members proficient in four sharps and four flats
• String players have some knowledge of higher positions, vibrato and various articulations
• Wind and percussion players have developing technique and tone
• Percussionists tune timpani from a given pitch
• Review audition requirements

$100 retreat fee
Scholarships available
*Tuition for students joining in January is 60% of the listed amount, plus $50 retreat fee

The church is centrally located at the intersection of I-35W and Diamond Lake Road in south Minneapolis.
I-35W Southbound: Take I-35W south to Diamond Lake Rd Exit. Stay straight onto Stevens Ave. Turn right (west) onto Diamond Lake Rd. Church is on the right.
I-35W northbound: Take I-35W north to Diamond Lake Rd Exit. Turn left (west) onto Diamond Lake Rd. Cross the bridge over I-35W. Church is on the right.
Parking: Free parking is available in the church lot (accessible from Diamond Lake Road) and on nearby residential streets.
