2013 EAST METRO STRING ORCHESTRA CAMP
A joint collaboration between GTCYS, Mahtomedi Community Education and North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Community Education, White Bear Lake Community Services, and White Bear Area YMCA, the new program provides string students with an engaging week-long learning opportunity. Directed by GTCYS conductor Mary Sorlie, the camp is designed for 8 – 14 year-old violin, viola, cello, and bass players who have two to four years playing experience. The five-day camp runs June 17 – 21 from 8:00am to noon at Central Middle School in White Bear Lake. Activities include rehearsals, sectionals, music fundamentals (movement, theory, rhythm, and solfège), and social activities. The program culminates with a free public concert at 12:30pm on Friday, June 21. Tuition is $205 + $20 registration fee. Scholarships available. Online Registrations available now! 2013 SUMMER ORCHESTRAS
Make new friends! Play in a full symphony! Develop your skills! Perform at Como Park! GTCYS offers two fun and challenging orchestras – Summer Philharmonic (for developing students) and Summer Symphony (for more advanced players) – for string, wind, brass and percussion players of all abilities through 12th grade – no audition required!
Weekly Tuesday rehearsals are 7:00 – 8:45pm beginning May 28, 2013 at Mayflower Church in south Minneapolis and the program culminates with a free concert at Como Park on July 16. Whether you’ve played in orchestra or want to try it out for the first time, there’s a place for you in the summer at GTCYS.
Tuition is $220 + $20 registration fee. Register before April 26 and take $20 off tuition!
