GTCYS provides an array of inspiring activities and performances for our students and the community.

Concerts

GTCYS musicians present 25 concerts for 11,000 audience members annually. Performances include Festival Concerts at Orchestra Hall, Community Concerts, Symphony Series, and Kids Playing for Kids concerts. All GTCYS concerts are presented in fully accessible spaces. Large print programs are available for all concerts and listening devices are available at Orchestra Hall and Ted Mann Concert Hall. If you have a special request, please contact Program Manager Miranda Bryan at miranda@gtcys.org ten days prior to a concert and we will do our best to make accommodations.

    Celebrate Earth Day with uplifting music! Concert Orchestra and Camerata will each perform orchestral works before joining forces with two choirs from Angelica Cantanti for a stirring en masse performance of Kids for Saving Earth.

  • GTCYS Symphony Concert

    Artistic Director Mark Russell Smith leads Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies’ premier Symphony orchestra in a series of outstanding performances at Ted Mann Concert Hall.
    The Symphony series concludes with a much anticipated performance by the talented winner of this year’s Young Soloists Concerto Competition, Madeline Sheard, who will perform Lalo’s Concerto for Cello. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, performed in its entirety, highlights the genius of one of the romantic era’s finest composers.

    Philharmonic’s performance culminates with the final movement of Camille Saint-Saëns’ brilliant Romantic-era Organ Symphony featuring Bill Chouinard on St. Andrew’s vintage pipe organ. Concertino’s program will highlight another important French work from the
    Romantic period, Hector Berlioz’s terrifying March to the Scaffold from Symphonie fantastique.

    Free and open to the public.

    GTCYS’ annual benefit with reception, concert, and live and fund-a-need auctions

    Target Atrium and Concert Hall

    This benefit, celebrating GTCYS’ 45th season, will be an evening you will not want to miss! You are invited to join our musical community to raise support for need-based scholarships and enriching student experiences. Following a colorful and inviting reception in the Target Atrium, special guest Susie Park, First Associate Concertmaster with Minnesota Orchestra, will join our Symphony musicians and artistic director Mark Russell Smith for an inspiring performance of Russian-themed music in the Concert Hall. Your attendance and participation will make the evening complete and your support of our students is vital. Live and fund-a-need auctions will support need-based scholarships, create rich educational experiences, and ensure quality leadership to propel GTCYS’ students forward on a path to excellence.
