About the Instructor: Accepting new students. Dana Donnay received her music degree from The New England Conservatory in Boston. She Performs regularly with professional orchestras and musical theaters throughout the Midwest. Ms. Donnay is a frequent soloist and a member of the Semada Trio. She has been teaching students of all ages in band, clinics and privately for over 15 years.

About the Instructor: Sarah Erickson Lume is a member of the woodwind faculty at Gustavus Adolphus College, where she actively oversees the musical training of oboe students and one woodwind quintet. She also leads the upper grades Recorder Ensemble program at the Minnesota Waldorf School. Sarah performs as freelance oboist in the Twin Cities and teaches private lessons to local middle and high school students. She holds a Master’s degree in Oboe Performance from Carnegie Mellon University where she studied with Cindy Koledo DeAlmeida, Principal of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. As the parent of a current cellist in GTCYS, Sarah is eager to work with more students in the program!

About the Instructor: Originally from St. Paul, and a GTCYS alumna, I moved back from Chicago in July 2014. I am currently teaching through the MacPhail Center for Music and at the Mount Olivet School of Music, am a regular guest musician with the Minnesota Orchestra, and recently founded the Stone Arch Collective, a chamber music group made up of oboe, violin, viola, and cello dedicated to performing engaging and unusual repertoire and innovative programs for students of all ages.

About the Instructor: Laura Nortwen has been a professional oboist and teacher for 35 years and loves it! She currently maintains a small studio in her St. Paul home, and also has students at the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music. Laura has her BM and MM degrees in Oboe Performance, and has taught hundreds of children and adults over the years. She enjoys working with each student as an individual, helping them master aspects of playing the oboe, but also encouraging life skills and an appreciation and love of music.

About the Instructor: Jenny Slivinski is a passionate music educator and multi-instrumentalist that believes in developing a well-rounded musician. Through the development of solid fundamentals, she aims to develop the full artist from the inside out. She strives to nurture individual creativity and expression with the understanding that each student has his or her own voice and unique purpose with the instrument. She is also a strong advocate of complete body awareness: how the entire body aids in the process of creating the ideal sound and how best to use the body in order to avoid pain and unnecessary tensions. Using these ideas, she actively collaborates with each student to form a plan that will nurture their love and enjoyment of music, while meeting their individual performance goals.
Jenny is currently a member of the faculty at Schmitt Music in Brooklyn Center and Woodbury, and Sarah Jane’s Music School. She also maintains a small studio in her home in Coon Rapids. She studied Music and Business Administration at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Available for private lessons, masterclasses, and sectional work, as well as performances on Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, and Saxophone. Jenny regularly performs with the Westwind Concert Band and The Silverwinds Flute Choir. Jenny is an active member of UMFA (Upper Midwest Flute Association) and of NAfME (The National Association for Music Education).
