Concerts

Providing unparalleled performance opportunities and uplifting diverse audiences throughout the community.

Family at concert

During the 2015-16 season, GTCYS musicians will present 24 concerts for 11,000 audience members at diverse venues across the metro.

Our focus on service to the community and sharing music with underserved audiences instills students with the value of sharing their talents with others.

  • GTCYS’ Community Concerts bring 16 performances (14 free and two ticketed) to audiences at diverse locations throughout the Twin Cities including a homeless shelter, care centers, schools, and churches.
  • Fall and Spring Festival Concerts showcase performances by each of GTCYS’ eight orchestras. Concerts take place at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis, providing a rare and exciting opportunity for students to play in the Twin Cities’ premier concert hall.
  • The Symphony Series features GTCYS’ most visible and active pre-professional ensemble, the Symphony, in three ticketed concerts at Ted Mann Concert Hall.
  • The concept of Kids Playing for Kids is a powerful and educational way to engage and inspire young audience members in orchestral music. This series includes our annual free Family Concert at The Ordway and community concerts at Neighborhood House and Capitol Hill Magnet School.
