String Orchestra Camps

Young string students will experience the excitement of playing in an orchestra, make new friends, grow musically, and have fun!

About

String CampBudding young string students can play in one of two string orchestra camps where they’ll learn through energizing rehearsals, sectionals with professional coaches, fun social opportunities, field trips, and special music activities. Students will experience the excitement of playing in an orchestra, make new friends, grow musically, and have fun! Due to the overwhelming popularity of this day camp, we’ve added an additional week this year – content is the same for both camps, so choose the dates that work best for you!

  • Open to any violin, viola, cello, or bass player, ages 8 – 13 with approximately two years playing and reading experienc. No audition!
  • Work daily with GTCYS conductor Mary Sorlie, outstanding professional musicians, and student mentors
  • Special musical activities include field trips to the MPR Studios, the Schubert Club’s instrument museum, the Ordway Center, and more!
  • The program ends with a free public concert for friends and family
  • Snacks provided; students bring their own lunch
