Sinfonia East Conductor Named

After a formal search process, we are delighted to announce that Ernesto Estigarribia will join GTCYS’ artistic team as the conductor of Sinfonia East – GTCYS’ new full orchestra for east metro students starting in the fall. Originally from Paraguay, Mr. Estigarribia is passionate about working with young musicians and believes in making the musical learning process fun to help students grow. He holds several current roles, including serving as Artistic Director of the Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestras (SEMYO) and working as a teaching artist with third graders in GTCYS’ Harmony program. In addition to conducting in the United States and abroad, Mr. Estigarribia has taught privately and has an extensive performing background as a violist.

Mr. Estigarribia shared this statement: “I look forward to joining this extraordinary team of conductors to be able to make a positive impact on the students and the GTCYS family at large. It is an honor to be part of the young musicians’ first experience in a full orchestra and to share my love for music.”

With his high energy and musical standards, and his ability to connect with younger students, Mr. Estigarribia will be a successful leader of Sinfonia East. We encourage students, families, and teachers to join us for a special East Metro Open House on April 24 to learn more about GTCYS’ new opportunities for  programs.
